Reducing carbon emissions across the public sector will be key to Scotland's future, both for economic reasons and to meet Climate Change and Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) targets. This session will examine how the public sector can innovatively ‘green' its services and technologies and why it is so important to do so.

Reducing the carbon emissions of government and the public sector will require myriad services coming together from the public and private sectors to provide both proven and innovative methods to achieve this goal. This session will look at how sustainability within services can be achieved in reality, the cost involved as well as looking at how a carbon footprinting standard could be established.

In hard economic times the initial outlay required for sustainable measures may get pushed down the order of priorities. This session will look at how sustainable procurement can work and how green improvements can be funded at a time when budgets are being reduced.
